There Is Definitely No Reason to Celebrate.
by Milota Sidorova

"There is nothing fundamental that came out today or yesterday that would take it up or down. We're all groping for something meaningful to talk about," said Bob Andres, chief investment strategist at Portfolio Management Consultants. "The market is exhausted from going down." One might explain yesterday’s steep growth.
However, no one’s happy and nobody really believes this is going to last for a long time.

Although Dow Jones and S&P 500 rose more than 10 percent or 899 points a day which is the second best performance since Oct 13, data showed Americans were more depressed with the environment than expected.

Ok, let’s put here some facts. The Conference Board’s consumer confidence index reached its 41-year bottom, literally 38 percent from 61 percent in the last month. People are permanently getting stressed by massive job cuts, drops in home prices that strangely don’t reduce their mortgage payments and the rising inflation.
Job claim reports declare there have been more than 760,000 cut positions in the first nine months. However, the statistics don’t stop here. The unemployment index which has currently hit 6.1 percent is expected to break 8 percent border in the beginning of 2009. The retailers announced the upcoming ‘anemic’ holiday could lower the yields more than 2 percents to $250 billion this year which could be the worst sale season ever.

World markets have been reinforcing yesterday. The most troubled Japan index Nikkei closed with 7.7 percent gain. Nevertheless Japanese government watches closely the situation and the lawmakers are about to follow world trend – massive rate cut. American Fed will cut the rates by at least half a point today to the lowest level of 1 percent in the past 4 years.

European Central Bank and the Bank of England are widely expected to continue the strategy and boost national economies.
As for IMF, more than 2 billion rescue injection has been dealt with Iceland that has rose its rate cuts from 6 percent to unexpected 18 percent which may be quite a disaster for investors and lenders. Iceland representatives suggest it has been a part of IMF contract. Hungary, as the last from the IMF supplicants will receive $25.1 billion to shore up its currency and markets.

Closing Bell Oct.27
by Milota Sidorova

Yesterday, the world press labeled the next trading week extreme volatile and within 24 hours we get the immediate response. Dow Jones dropped another 203 percent hitting the bottom of 2008, literally 8,176 points. Asian markets declined dramatically as well. Honk Kong market closed with 12 percent loss and Japan Nikkei reached its 26 years low. Stocks have been declining all day long, despite generally optimistic home sales reports and another governmental step to ease the crisis.

According reports home sales increased more than 2.7 percent last month and also the earnings have been rising. As expected, Fed has approved another full percentage rate cut that should theoretically boost the confidence, such as it began the preparation of buy out the short term debts named also commercial papers used to cover everyday expenses and salaries.

Nine major banks of America will receive the first $125 billion package. What might be quite distressing is a fact some of the corporations didn’t have any problem during last months, on the contrary they had credit enough to take over falling Wachovia or Merill Lynch. Karen Thomas, the executive vice president for the Independent Community Bankers of America said there were another 8,000 smaller banks in the U.S. and it wasn’t just right decision to pick up the winners.

Credit crisis deals tough times for another branches of economy and industry. We’ ve heard of General Motors, Peugeot or other major carmakers reducing the production and limiting the jobs. Treasury has received calls for help and yesterday and Dana Perino, the Presidential press secretary declared Bush’s administration was ready to release extra $20 billion to develop the projects focused on new energy efficient vehicles.
Certainly, one has to smile gently. It’s definitely a noble idea, but what does it matter to release billions on hydrogen GM vehicles that cost more than $1 million a car?
Let’s talk about massive distribution and usage. There have been only two hydrogen stations in the whole state of Washinghton. Let’s talk about millions who lose their jobs, homes and count each dollar to buy the food.
Ok, let’s talk about development of eco-friendly vehicles.
For inspiration, please check the website of India Tatamotors and think about a car driven by compressed air.

After European Central Bank announced it could advanced another rate cut next week, most of the European markets have closed with slight loss, despite slightly recovering. London FTSE ended with 0.79 percent loss, French CAC – 40 rose from 6 percent drop to 3.97 percent and German DAX gained 0.91 percent.

Chris Cantell Discusses Markets: Prices of new homes are decreasing
by kristina leskova

One of the main topics in United States of America is selling of houses and the consumers mortgages. These all belong to impacts of financial crisis. Sales of new homes rose in September by 2.7%. The builders were bullied to decrease the prices of new houses and this caused that the annual sales pace rose to 464 000 homes. When we take look at the inventory of unsold houses we will find out that the situation is not good. Although the inventory was in September reduced to 374 000 (in August it was about 404 000), this is still a high level of unsold homes (if we can compare with the past). This means that we would need 10 and half month to clear the overstock of homes (in comparison in August we would need 11 and half month). The median price of a new house reached a four-year low - 218 400 dollars. The prices are still lower, this could sound good for the customers, but another thing is that after the financial crisis and mortgage crisis, it is not so easy to take a mortgage. Because many people took mortgage but they were not able to pay for it. There is some supposal that the prices of homes will be under pressure until the mid-2009. In the northeast region the sales decreased by 21.4%, in western region by 22.7%, in Midwest region about 5.8% and in the southern region only by 0.7%. So the situation is different and we have to wait what will happen in the next months.

Alan Greenspan admits failure
by kristina leskova

Alan Greenspan, born in 1926 in New York City is an American economist and he was from 1987 to 2006 Chairman of the Federal Reserve in the United States of America. Now he works as a private advisor and provides consultation for firms through his own company Greenspan Associates. He stayed at the position of Chairman almost twenty years that is quite long period. Many people loved him, but many criticized him, too. Many people blamed him that the financial crisis that hit America and other countries in the world is his fault. Greenspan is a believer in free markets and he did not believe in regulation. Alan Greenspan was first nominated on June 2, 1987. After his nomination the bond markets experienced the biggest one-day drop in five years. And he had to face his first crisis – stock market crash in 1987. He was awarded Medal of Freedom which is the highest civilian award in United States by President George Bush in November 2005.
On February 26, 2007 Greenspan forecasted a possible recession during the year 2008. And as we can see he was true. On March 17, 2008 he wrote an article for Financial Times where he pointed that the world will be never able to anticipate the financial problems. There are some opinions that Greenspan triggered the economical crisis, but Alan called this chaos as “one in a century credit tsunami”. Greenspan had to accept that his ideology was not right. He believed that the market works well, but now he can see the impacts of financial crisis. People are still loosing their jobs and companies like Goldman Sachs, Chrysler or Xerox expect to dismiss even more people.

Chris Cantell Discusses Markets: Alan Greenspan prizn√°va chybu
by kristina leskova

Greenspan veril vo voľnosť trhov a nedôveroval regulácii.

by Barbora Misakova

I toa e problemot.
No vistinata e deka kreditnite pazari ne operiraat normalno.

People Don’t Feel Markets Speed Up
by Milota Sidorova

American markets seem to be doing well after extreme volatile two week period. Moreover, they are speeding up, showing signs of possible recovery. Watchers cause this situation with the promise of White House to carry on with second round of rescue pro social plan. This time it should be focused on middle class businessmen. President Bush has also announced a series of world summits aimed to resolve the problems of global financial crisis. Sky Rocket Dow Jones open is also referred to the Conference board report that composite index of leading economic indicators edged 0.3 percent that is actually the good news for the first time in five months.
Dow Jones increased 413.21 points or 4.67 percent to finish on total 9,265.43 points. Both indexes Nasdaq and S&P 500 kept following the trend.
Critics suggesst we can’t speak of permanent recovery, despite of several positive waves over Wall Street and relatively strong governmental back up. Investors remain carefully cautious. They prefer to buy low-yield safe assets which are very cheap to buy.
Fed chairman Ben Bernanke spoke out to lawmakers last weekend. He urged for quick action steps and despite massive expectations he didn’t show any firm hint of another cut.
Investors forecast at least half percent point rate cut before December. The upcoming meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee is scheduled on Oct 28-29.

As for the rest of the world, Russia stood up for rescue package focused on construction industry. Moscow is dealing one of the most ambitious architecture projects. Home prices have increased rapidly and threaten every branch of economy.
China have announced its consumers’ spending slowed last month because its people, despite living in safe distance are afraid to invest and even to spend more on western goods.
Consumers’ spending lowered in the U.S. as well and merchant do fear that upcoming Christmas season could end in the red numbers. Because people don’t feel the banks are recovering. They feel the inflation, unemployment, criminality, everything that has been secondary caused by the financial crisis. And they need a leader or a puppet to trust in.
For so long, we keep on waiting for the results of November 4.

Daily Summary over World’s Efforts.
by Milota Sidorova

American and European markets declined yesterday despite of few good or at least detailed news from the highest positions. Fed unveiled Washinghton’s latest five point plan to stop investors from blanking their accounts. Government is intending to buy commercial papers and certificates from the top rated institutions. Something White House alike has been adopted in Argentina that stood up for nationalizing even private pension funds to guarantee people their future. Nationalization as a way to survive – that’s what many declare these days.
Fed chairman Ben Bernanke urged for the second rescue plan and Treasury chairman Henry Paulson said he had nothing against however, the crisis won’t split for at least several months. To complete this extraordinary puzzle one can’t forget John McCain’s word’s he wasn’t going to spend another $750 billion, stolen from American people to buy out Wall Street. He claimed he had another plan and to rescue families.
Poor Americans must suffer except of financial crisis so controversial words. One could ask whether McCain isn’t schizophrenic. One day he’s up to buy the biggest financial corporates and the second day he is the biggest open market defender.
However, let’s abandon these political buzz and focus on economy.
Dow Jones lost around 216 points or 2,5 percent yesterday. S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite went down 3 and 4 percent. As for technological sector, watchers join the fact with Yahoo and Apple 3Q declining reports. According Yahoo, advertising has gone more difficult in this industry and people are not willing to buy unessential goods.
Dollar rose against most of the currencies and reached year-and-a-half maximum and pushed down the prize of oil and gold.
Despite of slight drop all over the planet, it was Japan that ended with 3.3 percent gain. Its Economic Minister Kaoru Yosano assured the possibility of drawing public funds by troubled banks.
As for IMF, it’s on the best way to a deal with Ukraine, Hungaria, Iceland and the trouble stoned Pakistan. The United States are the major contributor to international organization and its officials told they were not supporting Pakistan neither long term progress in the country. According them Pakistan would easily fund the militants, just few miles from troubled Afganistan. I’d like to add one more statistic. While the average day spending on whole Afganistan population took around $70 million a day, the U.S. happily covered daily more than $100 million just on its troops. While we fear about our money, millions of civilians out there fear for their lives.
Canadian banks cut their lending rates after the main Bank of Canada lowered interest rate cut quarter percentage point.
Summing all of this, everyone is doing the best to survive and the best according his or her belief, but personally I am looking forward to another bitter comedy alike 24 hours in the world of finance.

Chris Cantell Discusses Markets: Dow Jones posle sedum dena
by Milota Sidorova

Chris Cantell Discusses Markets: Markets Speed Up to…
by Milota Sidorova

It’s been the day of great shame for Brits and the most desperate day for Americans. British government has approved 31.5 billion pound rescue plan for three biggest national banks that are going to be under government’s administration. It’s a great blow up for famous British independence. As BBC cited, while it’s been the end of financial independence, on the contrary it’s been a day when Gordon Brown reinforced his worldwide position.

Americans however, had a reason to celebrate. Monday markets signed all day rally and stocks jumped impossibly high. After catastrophic last week decline, Dow Jones regained 936 points yesterday and jumped 11 percent that is the biggest day increase since 1933. The main American index went down 22 percent last week, loosing 2,400 points translated into a language of markets a rough drop of $2.4 trillion.
It seems that three international meetings held during the weekend boosted investors‘ confidence and stocks opened sharply higher and followed the line and by noon Dow Jones crossed 9,000 level.
Rally intensified in the last hour when president Bush announced his speech scheduled on this morning assuming more details of rescue plan.
Index S&P 500 rose 104 point or 11,5 percent also technological Nasdaq boostes 195 points or 12 percent Monday.
World markets were soaring as well, impowered by EU leaders promise to temporarily finance main European banks till the end of 2009.

President Bush is going to declare more details of rescue plan today, before the markets open.
According several press sources, Treasury is going to distribute $250 billion in potentially 1000 American banks. According New York Times, 5 biggest banks that have passed this crisis without significant problems will get their pieces of cake as well. Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are going to cash $10 billion, Bank of America and Fargo will receive $20 billion each and Citigroup and JP Morgan Chase will sum up $25 billion during upcoming weeks. The wave of optimism has overflown Wall Street, however investors remain cautious to early outputs. So far, so good.

Financial crisis has inevitably become a major discuss point in upcoming presidential election. Senator Obama is about to meet Senator McCain in final debate held on Long Island on Wednesday, or literally a state so close to the heart of money universe. The theme will be of course credit crunch and elimination other negative economical markers such high unemployment, low vitality of housing markets etc.

Due Columbus holiday bond markets couldn’t stick up to fresh optimistic breeze flowing over financial markets.

Chris Cantell Discusses Markets: Moderate decline after Monday´s massive advance
by Zuzana Zelenakova

After stock markets soaring on Monday Wall Street has declined a bit with Dow Jones industrials loosing about 76 points. On Monday news arrived that Bush administration planned to inject $250 billion into the major US banks receiving their stocks in return. Of course the reaction of the markets and investors came with the massive advance. This move has helped to lift the shares of big banks, which were slumping gradually throughout the year. On Tuesday the shares of Bank of America, Citigroup, Wells Fargo and others rose more than 10 percent. With the anticipation of the government´s plan the stocks went up immediately. Currently the situation on the stocks markets is calmer with stocks pulling back. Some of what was gained on Tuesday was lost the following day. The story is similar in Europe. London's FTSE-100 and Frankfurt's DAX fell 1.5%, and Paris' CAC-40 lost 1.2%. "We don't know if the bottom is in," said Lincoln Anderson from LPL Financials referring to the sudden advance on Monday following enormous losses last week. "We certainly expect heightened volatility for a fair amount of time while we sort out just exactly what's going on." Current rescue plan aims to recapitalize banks. "This begins to penetrate the core of the problem," said Peter Cardillo from the brokerage house Avalon Partners Inc. On the other hand Robert Dye, senior economist at PNC Financial Services Group, says: "These steps are not going to turn the real economy on a dime. The two keys to the fundamental economy right now are the job market and the housing market and both of those remain distressed." Experts on financials are divided in their conviction whether the worst lows are behind the stock markets or not. However, the latest reports indicate that banks´ reluctance to lend to each other could be gradually declining.

Chris Cantell Discusses Markets: Pazarite se ubrzuvaat do...
by Milota Sidorova

Kako što BBC citiraše, dodeka dojde krajot na finansiskata nezavisnost, vo sprotivno toa beše den koga Gordon Braun ja potvrdi negovata pozicija vo svetot.

Spored New York Times, 5te najgolemi banki koi ja pominaa krizata bez nekoi poznačitelni problemi ke go dobijat svojot del isto taka. Goldman Sachs i Morgan Stanley ke dobijat 10 bilioni dolari, Bankata na Amerika i Fargo ke dobijat po 20 bilioni dolari sekoja i Citigroup i JP Morgan Chase ke sumiraat vkupno 25 bilioni dolari vo slednite nedeli. Branot na optimizam go preplavi Wall Street, no investitorite ostanuvaat pretpazlivi od prerani rezultati. Dosega, dobro.

Finansiskata kriza neizbežno stana glavna diskusija vo slednite pretsedatelski izbori.

Financial Crisis Is Not The Only Blame for Declining Retail.
by Milota Sidorova

American retail sales went down 1.2 percent on September. It has almost doubled the expectations. And one who might be pointing his eye on Wall Street surely knows how disasterous this news might be.

And it was. Panic over Wall Street sent Dow(n) Jones 733 points or more than 7 percent yesterday. All the major indexes were dropping as well, at least 7 percent.
Consumer spendings are the fuel engine or two thirds of U.S. economic activity. And while the banking sector may be recovering, the rest of the economy stays underwater. That’s what every politician says. Moreover such emotional turbulence may be quite natural after such big loss in the last week. U.S. market papers lost $2.4 trillion during 8 trading days. Wednesday extended the black bill plus $1.1 trillion.

Bad news – however, not all the blame for declining spendings belongs to credit crisis.
People still need goods, they still need to buy and they want to buy even in such though times.
According NPD Group analyst Marshal Cohen, engagement with consumer at all levels is the key to success today. You have to persuade the mass, you are wanted and desired. You have to be optimistic and not thinking black, attracting to the negative aspects of the economy.
Give them a reason to buy! Cohen also said, that way out of this bleak mud may be easier for companies like Apple, though last numbers don’t think so. Apple has one of the best developed merchandize strategies in the world. Starting with great desing, ordinary presentations with CEO Steve Jobs, who instead of business look prefers his black T-shirt and blue jeans. Advertising and marketing may ease your loss.

According several sources, on-line shopping has increased last months. The reason is, while desperate consumers stay at their homes, refusing the ordinary visits of supermarket, they still think of the best compromise between what do they exactly need, the price and the quality. While reluctant to other types of advertisments, they are falling, they are overwhelmed by the online catalogues etc.

Companies should bet on good strategies and discount systems, however, Cohen accused ‘gift cards’, because on one side it is an opportunity to attract the consumer and it guarantee early yield, however, on the other side it makes customer passive, not offensively thinking of what he might be needing. Literally, consumer is not walking among registers seeking, thinking and doubting.
So, there’s not doubt the opportunities may be found.

In the name of volatility
by Barbora Misakova

We are sometimes too trusting. Once something good happened to us and we just expect that it is going to be like this permanently. Crisis on the market has stood with us for a long time now, and everyone would be more than grateful if it just goes away. And that’s the problem. When we want something too much, then every single (even very little and actually very weak) ray of light is seen as the clear evidence of turning our dream into reality. After a very long and bad period of falling and decreasing indexes on the Wall Street very optimistic ones would believe that better times beckon for us. Last time, when Dow Jones industrials fall on 380 points, this time we could say that situation improved a bit, and they are higher - on 400 points. Even though this promising change came so unexpectedly, we shouldn’t rely on it. On the other hand analysts warn there is very little possibility this gain will hold, and we should look at it as a sign of economic volatility.
These optimistic (for a while) changes are connected also with The Standard & Poor’s 500 index which rose 4.25 percent or Nadsaq composite index which increased 5.49 percent. So credit markets look like they were performing and working better – increasing indexes, various ways of financial support of the banks on government’s part and so on – point on slowly improving situation. But the truth is that credit markets are not operating normally. What is the point of credit markets? Working with credit! But investors are still afraid, and every single investment is considered twice. They are looking for safety and if there is just a little possibility it will go wrong, they are not investing at all. Everyone is too careful and lot of markets is still paralyzed, what is also a reason why some of professional investors were forced to turn to the stock market. Some indexes are increasing some others are declining, and while there is no security, markets will work in the name of volatility.

Quick Sum over the Past Week.
by Milota Sidorova

According Chinese astrology the year 2008 or a year of a rat was supposed to be a year of risky business. You race, you gain, you loose and back to the start.
What better introduction could one think about?
When we talk about circles it’s exactly what Wall Street looks like this week. Hopefully not loosing trillions like 8 days before, but the main indexes keep on jumping up and down every day. Monday brought a light of hope to Wall Street linking rocket Dow Jones gain of 936 points, Tuesday’s grey signed slight drop of 40 percent, Wednesday came upon as a day D. Dow Jones led down over seven hundred points and Thursday kept gaining 401 points.
One can’t come to any final resolution except of emotions are riding through world markets.
As for the rest of the planet, every trading place declined yesterday except of troubled Japanese Nikkei that recovered plus 11 percent. World markets slow down despite of EU efforts to break through hard times.
President Bush asked Americans to be patient and give the government more time to relief the crisis. Despite of number of unprecedented actions, the lending case remains underwater.
Banks prevent from loans and it sharply affects millions. Those millions who keep focused on two gouts on the only battleground. Are they able to handle such global problem?
What does America really need? Despite the politicians deny further steps to recover private sector, Democrats are calling for another round of ‘social rescue plan’. This time aimed to help the middle class.
Strategists assumed the current situation has exactly shaped definition of word ‘recession’. The most feared one in the most lousy country in the world. The word that might not disappeared few more years.

by Milota Sidorova

I beše. Toa go izjavuva sekoj političar.
Započnuvajki so odličen dizajn, običnite prezentacii so Izvršniot direktor Stiv Dzobs, koj namesto biznis kostim preferira da ja nosi svojata crna maička i sini farmerki.

Bailout Psychology in front of Americans
by Milota Sidorova

It´s a fact Americans don’t stay behind threatening bailout plan these days. What’s wrong?
Was the communication wrong? Did the politicians value their safe places up there more than the honest confession?

Let’s just look at the ‘marketing strategy’ of highly unpopular plan that crashed down Wall Street and keep on declining the world markets.
According more psychologists the talks miss several key features that might be increasing public sense of trust into government steps. However it seems quite a benefit for opposite Democrats, the consequences of rejection either ‘action of doing nothing’ may fall even upon their heads.

Well, one may ask what trust may ordinary citizen put into billions tax income floating in the Space? Moreover, try to believe Paulson, who’s personally another rich banker. Does it feel better with George Bush whose credit is plunging around zero point?
The campaign lacks the honest and respected messenger declaring and defending governmental decisions in front of the eyes of public.
One who’s up into commercial industry surely knows the name is the base of every successful campaign. Do you think the word bailout sounds like a step focused on ordinary citizen? In fact it’s more connected with the financial world that is too much abstract for a heads of the families struggling for everyday. However, it seems to be late to change bailout into something ‘more human’ for example ‘Customer Protection Cut’.

Public may be disappointed by lack of exactly information from the exact person linked up with the rescue plan. As far as we know, Paulson and Bernanke have been speaking so unclear in the public discussions. According senators, the briefest talks held their places behind the door.
According some Bernanke didn’t risk provoking financial hysteric claiming the consequences.
Credit crunch, sky high unemployment, inability to get loans and quick mortal blow for many banks sinking the consumers’ spending…
One has to be clear and sincere when want to success.

As for the proposal, today is nervous day for the Congress. The proposal has transformed adding several key changes. FDIC should raise deposit for bank and individual accounts up to $250,000 and carefully consider individual tax breaks to middle class incomers and small business.

However, if the Senate passes the proposal today, it will return back to the House of Representatives. That forecasts a lot of emotion theatre for the next days.

Chris Cantell Discusses Markets: Psihologija za spasuvanje pred amerikancite
by Milota Sidorova

Dali e podobro čuvstvoto so Dzordz Buš čii zaslugi opadnaa do nulta točka?
Kampanjata nema iskren i počituvan menadzer koj ke gi objavi i odbrani vladinite odluki pred očite na javnosta.
Nekoj koj e vo trgovskata industrija sigurno znae deka imeto e osnovata na sekoja uspešna kampanja. Dali mislite deka zborot izvlekuvanje zvuči kako čekor koj e fokusiran na običnite gragani? Vsušnost poveke e povrzan so finansiskiot svet što e premnogu apstraktno za glavite i familiite koi sekojdnevno se borat da preživeat.

Toa predviduva mnogu emotiven teatar vo narednite denovi.

Chris Cantell Discusses Markets: Suvenir: Planot za spasuvanje
by Claudia Sonea

Chris Cantell Discusses Markets: Iznenaduvanje, šok i razočaruvanje
by Milota Sidorova

Golemo, golemo razočaruvanje, zategnat pritisok i politička mahinacija.
Svetskite pazari go sledea amerikanskiot pad, zabavuvanje i gubitok.

Započnuvajki rano utroto diskusijata imaše i svoi visoki i niski moment, dodeka Nensi Pelosi, portparolkata na Belata Kuka go oddrža svojot govor. Finansiskata kriza sega e oformena vo politička igra. Kako i da e, tvrdoglavite odbivaat da kažat deka nema da reši ništo. Toa go predložija i dvata pretsedatelski kandidati. Dobro, ja znaeme frazata: "Sega e vremeto..." Kako i da e, nekolku senatori bliski do izborite prodolžija da go čekaat konečniot rezultat.

by Magdalena Rosova

Kako i da e, sredbata pomegu pretsedatelot Buš, dvajcata pretsedatelski kandidati Obama i MekKein i drugi kongresmeni donesoa mnogu novi konflikti.

by kristina leskova

Situacijata vo SAD e navistina seriozna. Site ovie raboti započnaa so hipotekarnite krizi.
No ovoj plan dovede do masivno opaganje na dolarot i ovaa situacija ja pravi naftata mnogu skapa.

Surprise, Shock and Disappointment.
by Milota Sidorova

'It's not a failure of the bill, it's a failure of will', Republican Senator Chris Dodd commented shocking however, not that unexpected Congress decision. Talks in lower Hall in Capitol Hill scheduled on Monday brought the worst scenario & 133 Republicans and 95 Democrats have rejected proposed 'rescue plan' agreed by their leaders just day ago.

Great, great disappointment, tightening pressure and political machination. All of this stood behind the key discussion of the greatest financial step in the history of the U.S.
Rejection has killed every sign of optimism on Wall Street. Dow Jones fell 777 points during the day. It's been the biggest drop since troubled 9/11 and the most ever for a single day. World markets have followed the American decline, slowing down and loosing.

"We need to put something back together that works''said Treasury Secretary Paulson. Indeed, it's been a bitter blow into his face. Literally, the rough blow into the face of the government as well.
As for the talks, everyone in the hall agreed it's been necessary to support the markets, but actually showed the other opinion. Beginning in the early morning discussion has seen its up and down, until Nancy Pelosi, the House Speaker held her speech. Populistic, moral critic of current right wing oriented government. She claimed taxpayers will back no discipline, no supervision and no regulation. Some believe she has taken by chance number of undecided Republicans. "We have a gun to our head," said Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite, R-Fla., who opposed the bill. "This isn't legislation — it's extortion."
Financial crisis is now shaped into a political game.
However, stubborn resist is not going to solve anything. That's what both of presidential candidates suggest. Well, we know the phrase: 'Now is the time...'. However, several Senators close to the election keept waiting untill the final result was close. Then they opposed the proposal.

To satisfy and convince GOP members, Republicans have pointed several changes. At first doubling $100,000 ceiling on federal deposit insurance and release the companies from devaluing assets on the books to reflect the price they could reach in the market.

Another talk is scheduled on Thursday. Many believe they will succeed to find the best option. As for the Congres, it seems personal hurts have crossed the business. Millions keep waiting, hoping to protect their property till the next day.
One might say, this mechanism seems to be over.

Will it blend?
by Claudia Sonea

Ops, the House lawmakers rejected the bailout plan and all the investors saw their expectations gone with the wind. Just as tragically as the movie made after Margaret Mitchell's book, Wall Street's shares went in a downward spiral and the situation seems to worsen. All eyes are on Citigroup that after being rumored to study the situation of Wachovia announced on Monday to buy its banking operations for $2.1 billion. Will that suffice to blow some steam off or will it lead to another chaos?
It is well-known that the current estate of Wachovia is the consequence of the bad acquisition made in 2006 of mortgage lender Golden West Financial Corp. It surely brought down the bank to which the option adjustable-rate mortgages actually put an end by leading to defaults and delinquencies. Because of the 42 billion of losses from its $312 billion loan portfolio, Wachovia was forced either to declare bankruptcy, which would have meant a black ball for the economic crisis, or to be purchased by another bank that would have assumed these losses. Citigroup's retail franchise was the one making the offer for the Wachovia which will continue to be a public company, but Wachovia's shareholders and regulators are still ruling on their decision. The deal must be closed until December 31.
Bank of America Corp. and JPMorgan Chase & Co are the biggest banks in US and Citi has entered their league. Is it tough enough to stay there or the three straight quarters without profit will bring down the Citigroup Inc. that already announced a cut in half of its quarterly dividend and the sale of $10 billion in common stock. FDIC will also receive $12 billion in preferred stock and warrants as a condition of the deal. How it will all blend for Citigroup that lost a total of $17.4 billion after writing down its assets and the failure of the government's proposed $700 billion rescue plan for financial institutions? Stay connected and you will find out!

Chris Cantell Discusses Markets: Va functiona?
by Claudia Sonea

Ramaneti conectati !

McCain, Obama joust over how to fix Wall Street
by Paulina Neshybova

The two presidental candidates had a big debate on Tuesday about nation´s edonomic situation. In general, Barack Obama blames republican´s nominant John McCain for continuing in Bush administration policiy, that according to him caused the mess at wall Street. On the other hand, John McCain wants to create a cemission which role would be to study the crisis and find solutions.
This struggle came after Monday, when at Wall Street were another shocks made by the collpase of Lehman brothers and sale of Merrill Lynch to Bank of America. Wall Street stirrs these two campaigns, as it was not long ago by the government takover of the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two companies interested in mortgages. Both candidates made their speeches about economic situation, barack Obama in Illinois and John McCain in Tampa. Some of their proposlas were simillar, but the differed mainly in the case of taxes. They were alike in he issue of reulation agencies that she be renewed as they were fine in 1930s, but not in the current situation.
However, they differed in the most important things. Obama still blames McCain for the recent economic crisis and he disagreed about creating a comission. Accoridng to him, people need a leadership that would help get America out of this situation and mccain is not the person who would do it. McCain promised to help by the comission and also promised to have a full access to national banks and their accounts and all financial institutions. But the main differenc is, that Obama plans to rais taxes, while McCain wants more to restrain spending in government.
