McCain, Obama joust over how to fix Wall Street
by Paulina Neshybova
The two presidental candidates had a big debate on Tuesday about nation´s edonomic situation. In general, Barack Obama blames republican´s nominant John McCain for continuing in Bush administration policiy, that according to him caused the mess at wall Street. On the other hand, John McCain wants to create a cemission which role would be to study the crisis and find solutions.
This struggle came after Monday, when at Wall Street were another shocks made by the collpase of Lehman brothers and sale of Merrill Lynch to Bank of America. Wall Street stirrs these two campaigns, as it was not long ago by the government takover of the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two companies interested in mortgages. Both candidates made their speeches about economic situation, barack Obama in Illinois and John McCain in Tampa. Some of their proposlas were simillar, but the differed mainly in the case of taxes. They were alike in he issue of reulation agencies that she be renewed as they were fine in 1930s, but not in the current situation.
However, they differed in the most important things. Obama still blames McCain for the recent economic crisis and he disagreed about creating a comission. Accoridng to him, people need a leadership that would help get America out of this situation and mccain is not the person who would do it. McCain promised to help by the comission and also promised to have a full access to national banks and their accounts and all financial institutions. But the main differenc is, that Obama plans to rais taxes, while McCain wants more to restrain spending in government.
